Politetrafluoretilena, prescurtat PTFE si cunoscuta sub denumirea de teflon, DOCAFLON sau TECAFLON, este un material plastic cu proprietati deosebite, utilizat pe scara larga in majoritatea industriilor. PTFE este un produs macromolecular rezultat in urma polimerizarii tetrafluoretilenei. Cele mai comune produse din politetrafluoretilena sunt barele, placile, foliile, benzile, tuburile. PTFE este un material inert chiar si atunci când este expus la temperaturi și presiuni ridicate. Este complet non toxic și are posibilitatea de a opera în lipsa produselor lubrifiante.

Folii din PTFE

Unde este folosit Teflonul (PTFE / Docaflon / Tecaflon)?

Politetrafluoretilena (PTFE / / Docaflon / Tecaflon) este foarte folosita datorita calitatilor sale unice. Din punct de vedere chimic, acest tip de plastic rezista la contactul cu orice fel de substanta, cu exceptia metalelor alcaline topite. Nu este deteriorat de foc si este un foarte bun izolator termic. Are proprietati de rezistenta la temperaturi inalte, de pana la 300ºC si ofera protectie atunci cand este utilizat in mediul electric.

Insa, cea mai deosebita proprietate a teflonului, care il diferentiaza de celelalte materiale din clasa lui, este antiaderenta. Aceasta contribuie la proprietatile sale anti-murdarire si anti-lipire. Teflonul este relativ usor de prelucrat si rezistent in forme finite.

Pentru imbunatatirea caracteristicilor sale, politetrafluoretilena poate fi combinata cu diferite alte materiale, precum sticla, bronzul, ceramica, aditivi care ii sporesc rezistenta la uzura si conductibilitatea termica sau electrica. Toate aceste proprietati sunt garantate de structura sa formata din atomi de carbon si fluor.

Datorita capacitatii de antiaderenta, teflonul este utilizat atat in ramurile industriale, cat si pentru produsele de uz casnic. El este prezent in petrochimie, masini-unele, constructii, transporturi, in metalurgie si sidelurgie, in industria farmaceutica, industria chimica, in procedurile de sigilare la cald. Acoperirea antiaderenta cu teflon este utila si pentru uzul casnic si alimentar, in industria navala.
